There are approximately 30,000 families in Maine who are affected by Alzheimer's disease or a related dementia. Their mission is to eliminate Alzheimer's disease through the advancement of research; to provide and enhance care and support for all affected; and to reduce the risk of dementia through the promotion of brain health. Their vision is a world without Alzheimer's disease. Maine Cancer Foundation http://www.mainecancer.org The Maine Cancer Foundation founded in 1976, is a non-profit organization dedicated to improving the health and well being of Maine people by: Funding scientific laboratory and clinical research, professional and public education and patient support programs. A grant-making organization, the Foundation funds cancer research, education and patient support programs throughout Maine. Make-A-Wish Foundation of Maine http://www.mainewish.org The Make-A-Wish Foundation of Maine grants the wishes of children with life-threatening medical conditions to enrich the human experience with hope, strength, and joy. Each wish surrounds the child with magical moments and touches everyone involved. Maine Special Olympics http://www.specialolympicsmaine.org Maine Special Olympics mission is to provide year-round sports training and athletic competition in a variety of Olympic-type sports for children and adults with intellectual disabilities, giving them continuing opportunities to develop physical fitness, demonstrate courage , experience joy and participate in sharing of gifts, skills and friendship with their families, other Special Olympics athletes, and the community. |
